If you’re wondering what happens through each stage of the building process,
here are the basic steps to completing your new home.

Contact Builder/Franchise Owner Tony Stallard today to find out more about choosing David Reid Homes as your custom builder.

1. Show Home Visit

Explore our website and look at our house designs and concept plans.
Come and visit us at one of our stunning show homes in your local area.

2. Initial Design and Process Meeting

We visit your land with our Building Consultant to discuss and document your ideas, needs, house plans and budgets.

3. Concept and Design of Your New Home

Design and briefing meetings are held with your new home consultant.
From these meetings your design takes shape and cost estimate is prepared.

4. Decision to Accept, Estimate and Plan Preparation

On acceptance of the estimate, your house plans will be prepared.
Your selections are documented in the addendum to specification and your working drawings are prepared, presented and finalised.

5. Contract Documents and Council Building Approval

A Fixed Price Contract is prepared and presented to you for approval.
Once you are satisfied, the contract documents, including the building contract, working drawings, specifications and inclusions are prepared ready for council submissions and approvals.
We will prepare and lodge with Council the building consent application.

6. Colour Selection/Finishes

Whilst your plans are in Council, you select the colours and finishes for your new home.
Your New Home Consultant is available to assist with every aspect of selections.

7. Construction and Project Management

Construction of your new home will commence soon after Council consented plans are received; at which stage a build start date is determined and an indicative timeline presented.
Progress payments will be required as per the contract.
We will hold regular site meetings with you and take progress photos.

8. Quality Control

Once construction is completed we will undertake final inspection and full quality control checks.

9. Handover-Completion

On completion we will clean your home and arrange for the final Council inspection.
You will be invited to come and inspect your new home with the Construction Manager.
Once the home meets your approval a David Reid Homes representative will meet you at your home to present you with the keys along with an information pack about the house and products warranties.

10. Moving In

You can now move in and enjoy your new home.
A David Reid Homes representative will explain the maintenance period and the conditions of your guarantee.
As part of the follow up service, we will ask you to complete a client satisfaction survey.
