Trending Designs | David Reid Homes Fraser Coast & Central Queensland

Building homes in the Fraser Coast & Central Queensland areas, David Reid Homes Fraser Coast is at the forefront of seeing trends in client selections. Here we share building design trends we have observed with our recent projects.

Rounded Mirrors and Glass

The trend has moved away from rectangular mirrors spanning the full length of a bathroom vanity. Your home is on trend if you have a circular or oval shaped mirror. Rounded fixed glass features are also appearing on plans to add an architectural interest to a design.

LED mirrors add a touch of luxury.

LED strip lighting & feature lighting

With LED running costs being exremely efficient, combined with the extensive range of LED feature lights now available, a strong trend is strip lighting under kitchen cabinets, in robes or anywhere to add a softer feature light.

Vinyl Planking Flooring

This has been a steadily growing trend and now would be undoubtedly the most popular flooring choice by far. The look, feel and final cost of vinyl planking is often the decision maker for clients in selecting from a vast range of planking options. You may have found yourself bending to feel a floor board to check if it is real or vinyl planking, it is so difficult to distinguish. Most likely in a new build, the flooring would be vinyl planking.

Higher Ceilings

A resurgence of an older trend, homes are reverting back to higher ceilings, which assist with natural cooling of the home and can make smaller rooms feel much larger. Higher ceilings are achieved through a flat ceiling set higher or by a raked ceiling.

Ensuited Bedrooms 2 & 3

More and more clients are seeking ensuited bedrooms for growing children and/or visitors. It is more common now to build homes featuring at least 2 ensuited rooms, a main bathroom and a powder room.

Colours : Blacks, Timbers, Golds

Colour selections have moved away from white on whites to blacks, timber hints and gold tapwear and plumbing fittings. Take a look at the Dulux Colour Trend Forecast 2023 for paint trends titled Balance, Connect and Revive.
